Curlwaa Caravan Park seeing massive cancellations despite being open
After months of flood warnings, the owners of a Wentworth business are facing the harsh reality of losing precious profits as cancellations bite hard.

Travellers cancelling their plans on the back of flooding concerns have the owners of a Wentworth business begging for help.

Curlwaa Caravan Park manager Ric Youngsaid the business has just four guests staying during what should be the busiest time of the year.
“We’ve had 90 cancellations so far,” he said.
“We were supposed to be packed and we’ve only got four guests booked - these are peak months where we can make money.
“We’ve got an eight-metre levee right outside, so a unless the river breaches the 1956 flood level we will just fine.”
Mr Young said media coverage of the floods did not take into account the many communities and towns which were largely unaffected.
“We’re about 8km from Wentworth where there is still lots for tourist to do,” he said.
“People should want to visit the Murray region at the moment.
“This historic once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Murray like this - there is still so much to do that doesn’t involve the river,” he said
While the river at Mildura has reached its expected peak, SES incident controlled David Tucek said it was not expected to start falling off until the New Year.
“We’ve don’t have that much information because it’s ongoing, but it’s possible we won’t see levels drop until mid-January,” he said.
