Moonee Ponds man scores $397k after buying winning entry from Puckle St Newsagency

A Melbourne man has been left speechless after receiving the ultimate birthday gift — winning the lottery.

A Melbourne man has received the ultimate birthday surprise — pocketing more than $367,000 after a lottery win.

The Moonee Ponds resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of 13 division one winners in Tattslotto draw 4543 on Saturday.

“I honestly couldn’t believe it,” he said.

“I scanned the ticket at my local newsagency, and the message said, ‘prize too big to pay out in-store.’ That’s when I thought, hang on.”

After checking online, the man was stunned to see he had won division one — on his birthday.

Despite his new-found fortune, the man still went to work that day.

As for his plans, he intends to reinvest in his business and take a well-earned holiday to Japan.

His winning ticket was purchased from Puckle St Newsagency at 45 Puckle St in Moonee Ponds.

Store owner Daniel Vo said he had been eagerly waiting to sell his first division one ticket since taking over in July 2023.

“It feels good. It’s our first division one winning entry which is just awesome news for us,” he said.

Mr Vo said the win had already become the talk of the store.

“I’ve started to decorate the store with some division one posters and it’s been the hot topic already,” he said.

“We wish the division one winner all the very best and hope they’ll be able to fulfil some amazing dreams with their prize.”

The winning numbers in Tattslotto draw 4543 on 1 February 2025 were winning numbers 12, 8, 18, 7, 41 and 1 while the supplementary numbers were 16 and 32.

Across Australia, 13 division one entries were sold — five in NSW, three in Victoria, two in Queensland and WA and one in SA.
