A Melbourne influencer who allegedly escaped to Queensland after an alleged Boxing Day kidnapping where a man was locked inside a toolbox has been bailed.

Tashi Fox, 33, applied for bail in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday after she was extradited from Queensland.

The Clifton Hill influencer allegedly fled Victoria after an alleged abduction where a man was bashed, locked inside a toolbox and robbed of tens of thousands of dollars.

In the Maroochydore Magistrates’ Court on Thursday it was heard that Fox allegedly collaborated with four other people.

The court heard her role in the alleged incident involved meeting the victim — a 56-year-old Westmeadows man — at a warehouse about 3.30am on Boxing Day last year, before telling him she needed to meet an Uber outside to retrieve her keys.

Police allege several people then arrived in a white Mazda BT50 and were ushered inside the warehouse where they assaulted the victim with a crowbar and kicked him with steel-capped boots.

During the alleged melee the victim grabbed a knife dropped from one of the co-accused and stabbed one of the men in defence.

The victim was then allegedly locked inside a tool box and taken to a Roxburgh Park address where he was tied to a step ladder.

After being allegedly restrained for about 11 hours, the victim was driven back to the warehouse which Fox and three other co-accused allegedly ransacked, stealing about $300,000 worth of computers, paperwork, jewellery, generators and clothing.

The accused attackers also allegedly stole $45,000 from various of the victim’s bank accounts.

The man was then allegedly threatened with a sword before he was let go.

Victoria Police found the man seriously injured in Coburg North at 11pm that night.

The court heard that Ms Fox was not physically involved in the alleged assault but had “ample opportunity to gain help”.

Ms Fox told police she did not profit from the alleged offending.

Ms Fox allegedly fled to Queensland, where she has family, on December 27 and started working at a call centre in Maroochydore.

She was arrested on January 21 by Queensland detectives.

Ms Fox’s grandmother, Rene Fox, told the court she could reside with her on a “temporary basis”.

Her grandmother said she was “very upset” when she read the Courier Mail’s report about her alleged offending but said “she’s my granddaughter”.

Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge told Ms Fox she will likely serve a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.

“If it not abundantly clear to you, you are in a very difficult situation at the moment,” Mr Lethbridge said.

“These allegations are very, very serious.”

Ms Fox was granted bail on the proviso she could pay a $10,000 surety, due to concerns about her being a flight risk having already allegedly fled the state.

She will remain in custody until that amount is paid, either in cash or as property.

As part of her bail conditions a curfew from 10-6pm was imposed and must live with her grandmother in Berwick.

Ms Fox will front court again on March 31.
