A building company and a plumber have been charged after a worker was seriously injured while plumbing at Tullamarine Airport.

In July 2023, a worker was seriously injured when he was allegedly crushed between the rail of the elevated work platform and an overhead pipe while doing plumbing work at an under-construction warehouse.

Texco Construction Pty Ltd, based in Hawthorn, has been charged with failing to ensure a workplace under its management or control was safe and without risks to health.

Dandenong South’s Cormack’s Plumbing Services Pty Ltd will face two charges of failing to provide and maintain a safe workplace.

WorkSafe will allege the elevated work platform did not have secondary guarding installed.

The two businesses will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a committal mention on February 28.
