Children invited to Northcote rave with techno, house beats
It’s a far cry from a Wiggles concert, but families are flocking to old-school dance parties headlined by big-name DJs, and the events are selling out nightclubs around Australia. The latest shindig is in Northcote — here’s what you can expect.

You’ll need disco lights, nappies and dancing shoes for this one-of-a-kind family event in Northcote.
Events group Big Fish Little Fish is bringing its rave party, with DJ Kiti spinning techno, house and drum-and-bass bangers for toddlers and babies, to 24 Moons from 2pm on Sunday.
Children can bust a move on the multi-sensory dance floor and enjoy face painting, crafting and fancy dress.
There will also be a kids’ craft area with a giant mural and playdoh table, a themed cake stall, chillout space and play area with tents and tunnels.
Big Fish Little Fish director Emily Synnot said their events helped fight the perception that once adults had children they had to grow up and stop having fun.
“Kids love seeing their parents have fun and parents often tell us that BFLF has given them back a little piece of themselves,” she said.
The self-described “2-4 hour party people” started in 2013 and now hold events at nightclubs across Australia, which often sell out.
The raves have drawn big-name DJs including Binary Finary, Kid Kenobi, Spacey Space, Nik Fish and Andy Van.
