Epping residents are fed up with delayed road improvements, after a car flipped onto its site after a nasty crash in the middle of busy traffic.
The intersection of Edgars Rd and Rockfield St is a common location for car accidents with a motorist who tried to avoid a collision ending up on their side on November 7.
Residents claim the intersection is frequently the site of car accidents and near misses, as drivers are confused by the road layout while the newly installed traffic lights are yet to be switched on.
Sev Akal, who lives close by the intersection, said drivers found it “very confusing”.
“I’ve had a couple of near misses,” Ms Akal said.
The traffic lights at the intersection are part of an upgrade to connect Edgars Rd to major thoroughfare O’Herns Rd, with Whittlesea Council stating on their website that the lights would be operational in May.
Ms Akal said local authorities had been saying the upgrade would be completed soon since 2011.
“It‘s been a decade now, we’re still waiting for that to happen,” she said.
“The residents here, we all see the council as very fortunate that we‘re very patient people.
“But I think we‘ve all now come to that point of when enough is enough.”
“This stuff needs to be done, people's lives are at stake.”

Whittlesea Council director of infrastructure and environment Debbie Wood said the traffic lights could not be turned on as a contractor was conducting gas main extension works in the vicinity of the intersection.
She said the lights would be connected once the works were complete, but did not specify when that would be.
“The City of Whittlesea is committed to improving road safety and works closely with governments and authorities to reduce risk for drivers, passengers and pedestrians.”
