Preston is getting a huge new Bunnings Warehouse, replacing the hardware giant’s store at Northland shopping centre.
Bunnings area manager David Roddis said construction had started on the new store at the corner of Bell St and Chifley Drive, with the new outlet expected to open in May next year.
The warehouse will include 18,000sq m of retail area, and will be more than 5000sq m bigger than the existing Northland store.
It will also have a fully enclosed trade yard and drive through, spanning more than 4000sq m, and about 500 car parks for customers, 170 more than the Northland store.
“We look forward to offering local customers an updated and wider range of home and lifestyle products, backed by the best service,” Mr Roddis said.
Existing Northland staff members will be transferring across to the new store and additional jobs will also be created for locals, with Bunnings to update the community in due course.
