A suspected Geelong criminal crew allegedly shot up a witness’s home in Melbourne’s north to “pervert the course of justice”.

Joey Cole and Jamaal Lewis, both 22, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with serious firearm offences.

It’s alleged Cole, of Grovedale, and Lewis, of Geelong West, shot at the Lalor home of a “material witness” on February 16 last year.

Cole, who appeared on remand via videolink, and Lewis, who appeared in person wearing jeans shorts and Nike runners, were both charged with reckless conduct.

Cole and Lewis were also charged with discharging a firearm and intent to pervert the course of justice.

It’s alleged the pair discharged a firearm that “placed persons in danger of death”.

Cole and Lewis also allegedly had the “tendency to pervert the course of justice” by firing the gun into a “material witnesses (sic) address”.

The pair was also charged with having “reckless regard for the safety of any person” and stealing a $20,000 Mazda 3 from a Lalor address.

Cole, who laughed and smiled throughout the hearing, and Lewis, who yawned at various times, will face court at a later date.
