A talented up-and-coming actor has scored a rare opportunity to perform in the VCE Season of Excellence.
Kensington’s Olive Weeks, 18, was selected to be a part of this year’s Top Class Drama and Theatre Studies showcase after she landed a perfect score on her final VCE Drama assessment.
The Wesley College student wowed the judges with a six-minute monologue from Carrying Shoes into the Unknown by Rosemary Johns – a play about an Iranian girl named Alice in the midst of the 1970s Iranian revolution.
The budding actor said she was “super excited” to be picked for the showcase after finding out before walking into an audition.
“I checked my phone and I got the email and instantly told my teacher and we were both so excited,” Ms Weeks said.
“I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to perform the monologue at the Arts Centre – it’s going to be great to have a proper audience and share my work with everyone.”

Ms Weeks said acting was her life passion.
“I love acting because it’s awesome to try to understand someone else and kind of be them, it’s pretty cool,” she said.
The future star will be heading to Paris next month for a prestigious acting course at Ecole Jacques Lecoq, which has produced talent including Isla Fisher and Geoffrey Rush.
Ms Weeks will perform at her monologue at the Arts Centre on March 17 as part of the showcase.
