Moonee Valley students gear up for annual Ride2School
Hundreds of students are about to flood Moonee Valley streets on their bikes as the annual Ride2School event makes its return. And these little go-getters from St Monica’s Primary School have been practising hard in anticipation.

Avid cyclists from the school will join 350,000 other children from around the country on March 13 as part of Bicycle Network’s National Ride2School day.
The program is aimed to help children get their recommended 60 minutes of daily exercise by riding their bike to school.
This year’s event will have a spooky theme, with riders encouraged to dress up as ghosts, witches and anything scary.
In the 1970s, 80 per cent of all schoolchildren rode or walked to school – but now more than two-thirds go by car.

Bicycle Network public affairs general manager Anthea Hargreaves said that the event was the best time to start going to school the healthy way.
“Riding to school is free and fun, helps you avoid fighting for a car park at the school gate and can also help students perform better in the classroom,” she said.
