Two men still on run after man allegedly assaulted, forced to ground, kicked in of head

Police want to speak to two men after a man was allegedly assaulted at a St Albans petrol station before an alleged attempted carjacking.

Two men are still on the run after a carjacking last month which left a man with serious facial injuries in St Albans.

Police are asking for assistance to identify two men who may have been involved in the incident.

Police have been told a 47-year-old man paid for petrol at a service station on Main Rd East and was walking back to his car about 11.15pm on April 26.

It is believed the victim was unlocking his car when an unknown man approached him and allegedly assaulted him by forcing him to the ground and kicking him in the head multiple times.

Two other men then joined the first man and allegedly further assaulted the victim while he was on the ground.

The trio then allegedly attempted to steal the car but were unsuccessful and ran from the scene.

A St Albans man was taken to hospital with facial injuries and a broken nose.

Police charged a 24-year-old St Albans man with attempted aggravated carjacking, affray, robbery, intentionally cause injury, assault in company, commit indictable offence while on bail.

He remains in custody and is due to a appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later in the year.

The investigation remains ongoing and detectives have released images of two men that may be able to assist with their inquiries.

It’s believed a number of people were in the area at the time of the assault and investigators are keen to speak to them.
