Thirty firefighters battled a blaze at a western suburbs factory overnight.

Emergency services responded to an automatic fire alarm at Leakes Rd in Truganina on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, the officer in charge, Mark Carter, said he saw significant smoke coming from the factory and escalated the response.

“We gained access using aerial trucks and proceeded to attack the fire in machinery and metal shelving,” he said.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatuses due to the heavy smoke.

Mr Carter said the factory was fitted with a working fire sprinkler system which helped contain the fire to the shelving.

“The fire was bought under control within one hour, and FRV then focused on removing the smoke and ensuring complete extinguishment,” Mr Carter said.

FRV remained on the scene overnight to investigate the cause of the factory fire.
