THE Sunbury StreetLife Festival is looking close to home as it searches for a charity to support in November.
The festival is taking submissions to support a local cause or charity with a donation likely between $2000-$3500 as a result.
Event organiser Sharyn Snook said they were hoping to get a few strong options to choose from.
“The preference has always been as local as possible so that the money that’s raised at the festival by locals goes to locals,” she said.
Heading into its fifth year, the festival collects donations and contributes to charities for the betterment of Sunbury.
Last year the chosen charity was Youth Projects, a Melbourne-based organisation that works with homeless people in Sunbury.
Ms Snook said the submissions were open to a variety of causes, as long as there was a Sunbury connection.
“Even if it’s a local family that is doing it tough and needs support, it’s more just trying to keep it as local as possible,” she said.
More than 140 businesses took part in last year’s StreetLife festival, which closed O’Shanassy St beyond Brook St for the first time.
The popular day showcases the full range of products stocked in Sunbury by shops and home-based businesses.
Charity submissions can be made via email to homegrowneventsvic@gmail.com by end of Wednesday.
