Stolen BMW cut in half and set alight in Gisborne

A STOLEN BMW was cut in half and set alight in Gisborne at about 7am today. The rear half of the car is yet to be found.

A STOLEN BMW was cut in half and set alight in Gisborne about 7am today.

A CFA crew from Gisborne put out the fire in Hobbs Rd, near the intersection with Melton Rd, after a passer-by saw the flames and alerted emergency services.

Sunbury and Toolern Vale crews also attended the blaze but were not required.

The front half of the blue 2001 BMW, with registration QVB 501, had been set on fire under a tree in bushland. The whereabouts of the rear of the X5 is still unknown.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the blaze and for anyone with information about the theft to contact them.
