Serial sex fraudster Peter Valsamakis lured man for sex again but out of jail next month

When a serial sex fraudster pretended to be a woman online to lure a man to his Newport home for a good time, it wasn’t the first time he had committed the crime. And now he’s back behind bars.

A serial sex fraudster who posed as a woman online to lure a man into an unwanted sexual encounter will be out of jail next month.

Peter Valsamakis, 43, was sentenced in the County Court on September 20 to 8 months in prison after pleading guilty to procuring a sexual act by fraud.

However, Valsamakis, a gay sex worker and bodybuilder with a history of drug abuse, had served 220 days in custody at the time of sentencing.

Valsamakis had been out of jail barely four months for the same crimes against several other men when he preyed on his latest victim.

The victim, 25, had just gone through a difficult break-up when placed an ad seeking females on online classified site Locanto on February 10 this year.

Valsamakis, pretending to be a woman, texted his victim within an hour of the ad going up.

The victim and Valsamakis exchanged “lewd and expressive” texts and photographs.

Valsamakis sent his victim photos of a brown-haired female in revealing lingerie while his victim sent lewd pictures in return.

Valsamakis also rang the victim and spoke to him in a woman’s voice.

The pair arranged for the victim to come to Valsamakis’ Newport home later that night.

There, Valsamakis kissed and groped the victim, who turned around and was “shocked” as he “was not expecting to see a male”.

He put his clothes back on and left immediately.

Valsamakis was arrested the next day but denied he tricked his victim into sex.

He invented a story about losing his phone and denied calling the victim with a female voice.

Valsamakis admitted meeting the victim via Locanto but said the sexual encounter was consensual.

Valsamakis alleged to police there was an agreement to pay the victim $500 for sex.

The former bodybuilder was caught with 40 Viagra tablets and eight vials of steroids when he was arrested.

The court heard Valsamakis worked as a sex worker to fund his meth addiction.

It was also submitted that Valsamakis would swap sex for drugs and abused steroids.

Valsamakis was sentenced to 18 months prison last September after he pleaded guilty to indecent assault, procuring sex by fraud and working as a sex worker while unlicensed.

He was released last October after time served was taken into account.

Judge Patricia Riddell placed Valsamakis on a two-year community corrections order which he breached through the latest offending.

The matter was brought back to Judge Riddell who said Valsamakis’ breach of the order was

“spectacular and sudden”.

The victim said the ordeal had caused him sleep disturbance, fear, anxiety, sadness and the ripple affect meant he was distant with family and friends.

He also lost his job, has no social life, is depressed and embarrassed.

Valsamakis, who also pleaded guilty to drug and poison possession, will recommence his two-year CCO when released.
