The theft of two german shepherd puppies from a Niddrie backyard has caused “nothing but absolute heartache” for their owners.
The two 10-month-old puppies have been missing for almost a month.
Owners Emmanuel Shamoun and Lana Volling said their dogs, Rocky and Alpha, had an “unbreakable bond” and were going to walk down the aisle with the couple at their wedding.
Moonee Ponds Senior Sergeant Jill Pace said the puppies were taken overnight on June 15 from the couple’s backyard.
Mr Shamoun said his back gate was always locked and secured with a lock.
“I found [the gate] open with the log removed and handles open. The gates are tall for a human to climb without a ladder,” he said.

Mr Shamoun said the thieves must have entered through a side gate that opened onto a pathway shared with his neighbour.
He said he felt “nothing but absolute heartache” and was pleading with whoever took the dogs to give them up.
“We are extremely heartbroken and just want our baby boys home,” he said.
The couple is offering a $1000 reward per dog. Mr Shamoun can be contacted on 0423 308 522 or at facebook.com/rocky.gshepherd.9
