Police search for dog walker who allegedly lit fire in Epping vacant block

A man walking his dog in Epping has been captured on CCTV allegedly lighting a fire in a vacant reserve before running away.

A dog walker has been captured on CCTV allegedly lighting a fire in long grass in Epping before fleeing the scene.

Police have been told a man was seen walking his dog before walking to the middle of a vacant block in Genesis Drive about 9pm Monday, where he allegedly set the long grass on fire.

He then ran away from the scene, heading south towards Revelation Rd.

Investigators have released CCTV of a man they believe can help with their inquiries.

He is described as caucasian, about 180cm with a medium build, wearing dark coloured shorts, a black and white T-shirt.

He was walking a small dark-coloured dog with white markings on its chest.

Detectives are also investigating a previous fire at the same location about 7pm on January 11.
