Menulog has created cocktail-scented candles to keep you sober
Almost 30,000 drinkers will take a month-long break from the grog from Monday — and two Melbourne restaurants are doing their bit to help with an odd gift which will have you smelling your favourite cocktail rather than drinking it. But will it work?

Dry July is just around the corner and two Melbourne restaurants are keeping Aussies sober using candles.
More than 28,600 people had signed on to the Dry July Foundation website on Friday, pledging almost $2.4 million to the charity.
Food delivery company Menulog will release a range of limited edition candles so teetotallers can smell their favourite cocktail instead of drinking it.

Menulog marketing director Simon Cheng said the candles would “help encourage a hangover-free month”.
Ditching the grog will help people save money, improve their sleep, and have more energy, weight loss and a general sense of clarity, according to the Dry July Foundation.

The range features five flavours including Mulled Wine, Champagne Cocktail, Scotch Whisky, Espresso Martini and Pink Apple Cider.
The candles will be available from July 1 and will be matched with a meal deal.
Only two restaurants in Melbourne will be offering the deal; customers will receive the Mulled Wine candle when they order the scotch fillet steak from Godfathers Pizza Cafe in Yarraville; and the Espresso Martini candle will be matched with the sticky date pudding from La Porchetta in North Melbourne.
Mr Cheng said the candles were “designed to be a way for customers to enjoy these flavours, without actually having a drink”.
