A master Italian chef who worked at a top Melbourne pizza restaurant has been implicated in an alleged criminal racket to deal massive amounts of ecstasy.
Andrea Corongiu, 41, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of MDMA.
Corongiu was allegedly pinched with the massive drug haul at Ascot Vale on April 18 this year.
Corongiu, who had worked at award-winning Italian eatery 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar, was also allegedly nabbed with cocaine and cannabis.
Specialist North West Metro Regional Crime Squad swooped on Corongiu following an investigation into major drug trafficking.
Corongiu, of Ascot Vale, was also charged with trafficking cannabis.
Investigators also alleged Corongiu, an acclaimed Italian born pizza master, was nabbed with a stack of cash and a Rolex Datejust which can retail for $35,000 online.
Corongiu, who was charged with multiple alleged drug possession and deal with the proceeds of crime offences, was remanded to face court at a later date.
