Melbourne muso dad Mato ‘Matan’ Sagolj charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of meth

A Melbourne dad has celebrated his birthday behind bars after he was snaffled for an alleged high-end meth trafficking racket.

A Melbourne father is behind bars after he was pinched for an alleged large-scale meth trafficking racket.

Mato ‘Matan’ Šagolj, 48, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of meth.

Mr Šagolj was allegedly nabbed with a massive haul of meth at Ascot Vale on May 18 this year.

It’s alleged Mr Šagolj, of St Albans was caught with 200gm of meth.

Flemington uniform division police arrested Mr Šagolj and allegedly caught the Melbourne dad with various drugs including meth, cannabis and GHB.

Mr Šagolj, who was also charged with trafficking cannabis, was allegedly nabbed with erectile dysfunction medication Sildenafil.

Investigators also allegedly caught Mr Šagolj with $947, two dicey bank cards and a controlled weapon “without lawful excuse”.

Mr Šagolj, a father who has dipped his toe into Melbourne’s music scene, was also charged with dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

Police also charged Mr Šagolj with various alleged drug possession offences.

Mr Šagolj, who appeared via videolink, was remanded to face court at a later date.
