Living Legends takes out the People’s Choice award at Victorian Tourism Awards
A Greenvale retirement home for champion horses has been named a top Victorian tourist attraction. Located only minutes from Melbourne Airport, the stable has just welcomed two recent cup winners.

When it comes to the popular vote, Living Legends is the best in the business by the length of the straight.
The Greenvale tourist property took out the People’s Choice category at the recent Victorian Tourism Awards.
Visitors can meet more than 25 retired champion race horses at their Woodlands Historic Park, including the likes of Might And Power, Apache Cat and Zipping.
Chief executive Andrew Clarke paid tribute to his hardworking team at Woodlands Park.
“We were ecstatic to win,” he said.
“We’re a relatively small operation and it felt like we’d won the Melbourne Cup of tourism.”
“We are proud and humbled to receive this honour.”
Visitors can mingle with the retired winners, smell the roses in a heritage-listed garden or explore 607ha of surrounding bushland where mobs of wild kangaroos live.
Mr Clarke said the park’s two newest retirees, 2016 Melbourne Cup Winner Almandin and 2013 Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner, were settling in well.

“It’s the Melbourne Cup winners that’s so deep in our culture and heritage,” he said.
“It’s really very special to have another Cup winner in our midst. Both of them are two very special horses.”
Hume Mayor Cr Carly Moore congratulated the Living Legends team for their hard work.
