Joshua Calladine: Braybrook man films sex with child on Snapchat
A Braybrook sex fiend who filmed himself performing sex acts with a 14-year-old may not have been caught if police hadn’t have searched his phone while investigating him over a violent robbery.

A sex fiend’s gross crimes involving a 14-year-old girl were discovered after police searched his phone while investigating him for a violent robbery.
Joshua James Robert Calladine, 19, fronted the County Court on Friday, October 2, pleading guilty to charges including the sexual penetration of a child under 16 and intentionally producing child abuse material.
Videos and photos found on Calladine’s phone revealed he had filmed himself performing sex acts with a 14-year-old on eight occasions in 2019.
Much of the footage was taken using social media sharing application Snapchat, with one geotagged as filmed at a bathroom in the south eastern suburbs.
Calladine’s text conversations revealed he had also had sex with the girl on several other occasions.
Prosecutor Charlotte Duckett said the girl had told Calladine by text that the sex had hurt her and that she didn’t want to do it again.
The court Calladine had also asked her to send nude photographs of herself to him.
Calladine was 18 at the time and well aware that the girl was four years younger.
The unemployed Braybrook man was arrested on January 20 and held in custody for five days before being granted bail.
Police had discovered the sex crimes after they raided his home and seized his phone and a pair of allegedly stolen shoes days earlier.
Calladine had allegedly met a Facebook Marketplace seller in the city on January 17 under the pretence he was going to buy some shoes.
But Calladine and a co-offender allegedly assaulted the seller, causing him to lose consciousness, and allegedly stole the shoes instead.
Lawyer Greg Thomas said his client had only just turned 18 when the offending began and had pleaded guilty as early as possible.
He had a psychologist give evidence that Calladine had some cognitive deficits and related more to boys than peers his age.
Calladine’s case will continue to be heard on October 27.
