The art of secondary students would feature in a new exhibition at The Incinerator Gallery under a proposed plan.
Moonee Valley Councillor Samantha Byrne flagged the idea for the annual art show for year 7 to 10 students after being inspired by the fireworks exhibition hosted by students in VCE.
If passed, the show could roll out as early as next year.
Cr Byrne said the opportunity would give youth in the area the chance to shine.
“I love attending the Incinerator gallery for any event and every year the fireworks exhibition amazes me beyond belief,” she said.

“Due to the popularity of this event it has made me consider why we don’t extend this opportunity to other year levels.”
Cr Jim Cusack said he was surprised it had taken so long for an initiative like this to “hit the deck”.
“This is a very powerful message we’re sending to young people who are teenagers throughout the whole of our municipality,” he said.
“For many young people art is a mechanism to look at their mental health and what matters to them.”
The council is expected to make a decision on the proposal in the coming months.
The exhibition would be open to any students in years 7 to 10 who live, work, or study in Moonee Valley.
