A Greenvale man is accused of being the mastermind behind an alleged large-scale ecstasy trafficking racket.

Thomas Krnac, 27, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of MDMA.

Mr Krnac was allegedly nabbed with more than 14kg of MDMA, cocaine, a tablet press, luxury cars, guns, $69,200 and a Rolex Submariner worth more than $10,000.

It’s alleged Mr Krnac was nabbed with the drugs, cash and suspected proceeds of crime following a police raid at a Greenvale home on September 12 last year.

Icarus Taskforce detectives alongside VIPER Taskforce and other specialist police led the raid.

Investigators said they latched on to Mr Krnac’s alleged operation after police “received information about suspicious items being sent via domestic mail”.

Mr Krnac, who was also charged with trafficking MDMA and deal with the proceeds of crime, was allegedly nabbed with a Mercedes Benz C63, a Holden ClubSport and a Mercedes Benz GT5.

It’s estimated the cars had a combined value of approximately $300,000.

Investigators seized the cars, the cash, the Rolex and the tablet press allegedly found at the Rifure Court property.

Mr Krnac, charged with gun and drug possession, was also allegedly caught with multiple guns and ammunition.

Mr Krnac, who is believed to have worked as a sole trader, was also allegedly nabbed with testosterone, cocaine and ketamine.

Police also alleged Mr Krnac trafficked MDMA via Australia Post at Campbellfield on August 15 last year.

Mr Krnac, who must wear a monitored ankle bracelet and not break curfew unless he is with his parents, had his bail extended to front court at a later date.

“The investigation commenced last month after police received information about suspicious items being sent via domestic mail,” a Victoria Police statement said following Mr Krnac’s arrest.

Icarus taskforce is made up of Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police officers and is assigned to targeting and disrupting the importation of drugs in the post.

Detective Sen-Sgt Leemara Fairgrieve of Icarus said the arrest and seizures showed the potential value of information given to police.

“Not only have we seized a significant quantity of drugs, we’ve also managed to take four firearms off the street and prevent all of these items causing any further community harm,” Sen-Sgt Fairgrieve said.

“The seizure of the luxury vehicles and watches is also crucial, because it’s important we ensure anyone (allegedly) involved in the trafficking of drugs does not benefit from this offending in any way.”
