Proving fashion and comfort are not mutually exclusive, Greensborough podiatrist Kate Heslop has launched a foot-friendly shoe store.
Ms Heslop said she was tired of seeing clients wear inappropriate footwear that caused pain, discomfort and damage because they wouldn’t forsake fashion.
She launched State of Solace in Greensborough last month, a store that stocks stylish but supportive footwear.
“For years I have advised clients on the sort of shoes they should be wearing only to see them return to their next appointment wearing something completely inappropriate,” she said.
Ms Heslop is also the director of Be Podiatry.
State of Solace is staffed by podiatrists and podiatry students, to provide customers with reliable advice.

The store stocks approved brands such as Rollie Nation, Ecco, Vionic and Frankie4.
“We wanted to offer shoes that are functional but don’t look like ‘nanna’ runners,” she said.
“There was a big gap in the market, especially in the northern suburbs for access to supportive footwear.”
State of Solace is located at 27 Beewar St, Greensborough and customers can also shop online.
