Roads reopened after gas leak from BP service station Sunbury

TRADERS and residents have been returned following a large gas leak from a Sunbury service station yesterday afternoon, with roads reopened.

BUSINESSES and roads have been reopened following a gas leak in Sunbury yesterday afternoon.

About 27,000 litres of gas leaked from an underground tank at the BP service station on the corner of Horne St and Gap Rd, 40 minutes north of Melbourne.

Surrounding businesses and homes were and roads around the area were closed off until late into the evening.

Emergency services including CFA and MFB responded to the scene, with motorists advised to plan alternative routes.

The area was declared safe around 7.45pm and the area returned to normal around 9pm. Maintenance crews worked on area and the fuel station was then handed back to its owners.
