AFL Victoria’s Key Community Facilities Fund has committed $50,000 to the upgrade.
The reserve has been home to female football club the Western Spurs since 2015.
The proposed work would see the clubrooms undergo a makeover, with the installation of lockable cubicle showers and separate change rooms for men and women.
“Council is delighted by the commitment and support from AFL Victoria, which will enable our local female football players to reach the top of the ladder,” Maribyrnong Mayor Cuc Lam said.
Current facilities include limited toilets with open shower blocks.
The work will cater for the continued growth of the Western Spurs and other tenant clubs, Cr Lam said.
The Spurs boast more than 180 players, which has increased the need for updated facilities.
