Music lovers are in for a treat with a new soulful hip hop festival landing in Footscray in December.
FLOW festival, organised by Foreign Brothers, will have a diverse international and local mix of artists including Digable Planets, KAIIT, Baro and the Baz Richie Sextet, Flexmami and Milan Ring.
The line up features emerging Melbourne talent and artists from the underground music scene.
The hip hop and soul festival at Footscray Community Arts Centre will be family friendly and more than just music with exciting activities including a car park roller jam and flower crafting station for kids.
“My vision for this is to be the festival of the west, the festival for the people,” Foreign Brothers director Arthur Tanzi said.
A vegan and Ethiopian food feast will also be on offer, with Footscray’s own Konjo Cafe catering to the event.
But if you’re in the mood for something a little bit more cheesy, Footscray’s Slice Girls will be on hand to dish out pizza to the masses.
Mr Tanzi said he thought the name FLOW fit the vibe of the festival perfectly.
“It’s got a nice ring to it, and with flow when you bring it back to hip hop and its culture if you don’t have flow you’re not a good rapper, you know,” he said.

The self-confessed hip hop head said he was most excited to see Digable Planets grace the stage.
“They’re our only international act and it will be their first ever tour in Australia,” Mr Tanzi said.
“They’re the perfect act for us because they basically initiated the whole jazz and hip hop movement.”
He said he hoped the festival would become a platform for emerging world music, hip hop and soul artists in Melbourne.
The festival will run on December 14 between 1pm and 10:30pm.
Tickets are $15 for children under 12 and $65 for adults and can be purchased here.
