There are calls for urgent safety upgrades to a Macedon Ranges intersection following a major accident.
The intersection at Kilmore-Lancefield and Mt William roads on the border of Goldie and Springfield has been a cause for concern for locals due to its low visibility.
Fears were realised when a car towing a horse float pulled out of Mt William Rd, colliding with a ute coming from the Lancefield direction on December 29.

With a school bus stop nearby, resident Richard Thornton said the turn is in a prime position for “near misses”.
“People are worrying because of an increasing amount of traffic on these roads,” he said.
“The incident that occurred a few weekends ago could be a precursor to something more serious.”
Mr Thornton said he wanted VicRoads to cut down vegetation on the side of the road to increase visibility as a starting point.
“A near miss is defined as a potential hazard that didn’t occur. A near miss at that intersection is where a car comes out from your obstructed view,” he said.
Acting northern regional roads director Matt Gard said the department would continue to explore where improvements to the intersection would be made.
“Safety is our top priority which is why our experts regularly inspect the area and crews will be upgrading safety signage on Kilmore-Lancefield Rd near Mt William Rd,” he said.
“With school heading back in a few weeks and a school bus stop nearby, it’s a timely reminder for drivers to pay extra attention, slow down and drive to conditions.”
Springfield CFA captain Mark Sheehan echoed Mr Thornton’s sentiments.
“The sight distance coming from the Lancefield side is pretty poor. You’re pretty vulnerable pulling out of that intersection,” he said.
“I think it definitely needs work to improve the distance you can see.”
