Broadmeadows train station has been voted the fifth worst in the state, dropping a whole rank since last year.
This comes as no surprise for regular commuters, as a Broadmeadows station upgrade has long been called for.
Broadmeadows train station, which opened in 1990, has not seen any major refurbishments in three decades.
In last year’s RACV’s On Track survey Broadmeadows station was voted the sixth worst train terminal in the state.
In this year’s survey, the notorious station dropped to fifth worst, scoring a 3.74 out of 10.
More than 24,500 people rated railway stations and services across the state in the latest survey.
Hume Mayor Carly Moore said the council had been advocating for the station’s redevelopment for many years.
The council and Leader are calling for a $40 million rebuild as part of a Fix our Station campaign.
“It is not surprising that the Broadmeadows station was listed as one of the worst performing train stations in Victoria,” Ms Moore said.
“We know the Broadmeadows Train Station is not an inviting place for commuters, people do not feel safe, especially at certain times of the day,”
“It is dark, graffitied, and it is time the Victorian Government provided funding for this much needed infrastructure project for our community.”
Broadmeadows received an official ranking of 245 out of 249 stations, when ranked best to worst.
Works to deliver a $1 million upgrade are promised to be underway soon, but the council is advocating for more funding from the State Government.
Public transport minister Melissa Horne said the transport network would be transformed with major projects planned for the future.

“We’re also investing in the services passengers need now with more than 500 extra services added to the metropolitan network since 2015,” Ms Horne said.
The proposed Broadmeadows station upgrade will see a new northern station entrance, refurbished toilets, lighting upgrade and CCTV.
There has been no announced start date for the works.
