An accused stalker allegedly filmed violent acts against a woman he has been charged with assaulting and raping.

Lachlan Humm, 25, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with multiple offences, including stalking, sexual assault and rape.

The court heard Humm was accused of following the alleged victim in his car.

It’s also alleged Humm tailgated the woman before driving in front of her and breaking suddenly.

It’s then alleged Humm threatened to inflict serious injury to the woman and “did intentionally apply force” for a non-consensual sexual act.

Humm, who is accused of raping the woman multiple times, allegedly lifted his foot to “stomp” the woman’s face but stopped his foot “only centimetres from her face”.

Charged with assault and reckless conduct, Humm also allegedly sexually assaulted the woman.

The court heard Humm’s suspected conduct allegedly took place in mid-2022 and he was charged by Mitchell Crime Investigation Unit members on April 5 this year.

It was revealed in court on Friday that Humm allegedly filmed some of the acts he has been charged with.

Police seized Humm’s phone and downloaded video and images which will be used as evidence, the court was told.

Humm had his bail extended.

Lawyers for Humm requested the prosecution hand over any data downloaded from the accused phone so it can be analysed as part of a legal defence.

The defence submitted, during an earlier hearing, Humm lives in Beveridge which is a “small country town”.

Beveridge is a suburb which partly sits in the metropolitan Melbourne LGA of Whittlesea.

The defence submitted Humm was “well known” in its attempt to have his name redacted from charge sheets.

The defence, at the earlier hearing, submitted there were “concerns for (Humm’s) safety” if his name “appeared in the media”.

Magistrate Kieran Gilligan, who presided at the earlier court appearance, flatly refused the defence’s request.

“It happens in lots of small country towns, names of defendants are reported … I won’t grant that (Humm’s name is redacted),” Mr Gilligan said.

Humm, who fronted court for the first time on May 3, had his bail extended to front court at a later date.

The prosecution has been ordered to hand over the downloaded phone footage to the defence within four weeks.
