AN ASCOT Vale home was left damaged after a car crashed into it when the elderly driver got the accelerator and brake pedals mixed up.
Police directed traffic at the collision at the intersection of Ascot Vale Rd and Elizabeth St on Friday at 12.30pm. No one was home at the time.
Senior Sergeant Ian Jones said a 70-year-old man driving a 1997 Nissan stationwagon accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake after leaving a Caltex service station on Ascot Vale Rd.
“There was major structural damage but no one was home at the time,” Sen-Sgt Jones said.
The driver sustained no injuries but would have a medical review of his licence.
