THE Brimbank SES has appealed for residents to take care on the roads as wild weather hits the municipality.
SES spokesman Brad Dalgleish told Leader at 12.15pm that his unit had around 30 jobs they needed to attend to, with more reports pouring in every minute.
“There are certainly a lot of trees down over roads and we’ve got reports of widespread damage,” he said.
VicRoads has closed all lanes outbound on the Western Highway near Christies Rd in Ravenhall after a truck rollover. Drivers have been advised to allow extra time.
A tree also reportedly fell on a car near Furlong Rd and Station Rd in Deer Park around midday.
Fallen trees have also been reported at locations across Brimbank including Sunshine Rd, St Albans Rd, Main Rd in St Albans and Kings Rd.
Police have been called to direct traffic near at least five intersections after lights failed.
Power authorities have reported they are investigating outages in Oleander Drive and Main Rd East in St Albans.
The combined outages have hit almost 200 customers.
According to Powercor, power could be restored to both locations by 3.30pm.
