VCE 2020: How schools in Mildura, Swan Hill and the Mallee ranked

The results are in for the Class of 2020, with one Mallee high school passing with flying colours.
Data shows how schools in Mildura and the broader region performed according to VCE results last year.
The schools have been ranked by their median study score — which is out of 50 and shows how the entire class performed in their final year.
In Mildura, private school St Joseph’s College ranked highest, with a median study score of 29.
St Joseph’s also had 4.2 per cent of its study scores coming back 40 or higher.
Elsewhere in the Mildura municipality, Murrayville Community College was another with a median study score of 29.
Mildura Senior College had a median study score of 25 with 1.3 per cent of study scores 40 or higher.
Top marks throughout the entire Mallee went to Tyrrell College in Sea Lake.
The public school in the town of 640 recorded a median study score of 34 — placing it among Victoria’s top 100 schools.
Impressively, 12.2 per cent of study scores hit at least 40.
There were a total 18 public schools in the top 100 for VCE in 2020 — almost a fifth of the most successful campuses.
That number was down slightly on 2019, when 21 public schools made the top spots.
Bialik College in Hawthorn, Mount Scopus Memorial College in Burwood and Ballarat Clarendon College were the top three schools across the state in 2020.
Bialik College principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner said he was thrilled the non-selective school was the best in the state with a median score of 38.
“We have a graduation cohort which we call Menschlich, which is a Yiddish term which means decent and active in the community as well as hard working,” he said.
“We know the greatest achievers are those who don’t lock themselves in a room but do good things.”
