A drugged up homeless Mildura woman allegedly made threats to kill a person who opened their house to her, a court has heard.

Sheree Shepherd, 33, fronted Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday seeking bail on multiple charges including making threats to kill, drug possession and receiving stolen goods.

The court heard on November 6 Ms Shepherd allegedly made threats to kill another person who had offered their house for her to take a shower and have a meal.

She also allegedly made threats to cause serious harm to the person earlier this year.

Ms Shepherd was also accused of receiving a black Qantas Visa card and a Medicare card that she allegedly knew was stolen and being in possession of OxyContin.

Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Kristen Simm, argued Ms Shepherd should not be granted bail pointing to her lack of engagement in the past with court services.

“CISP (Court Integrated Services Program) only goes so far as people who want to engage with the program,” Ms Simm said.

Ultimately, Magistrate Patrick Southey ruled in favour of granting Ms Shepherd bail, saying his hands were tied due to government legislation.

“The legislation the government introduced earlier this year is clear. As a disadvantaged Indigenous woman, she must be bailed,” Mr Southey said.

Ms Shepherd was bailed and is next scheduled to appear before the court on December 5.
