A new entrant has emerged in the Sunraysia radio market, with SENTrack set to launch in Mildura.

Sports Entertainment Network announced the new station would occupy the 89.1FM frequency and officially launch on October 26.

SEN chief executive Craig Hutchison said it would cater for fans of sport and “racing, chasing and pacing”.

Hutchison said Mildura appealed because it was a community that loved its sport, pointing to the successful trots club and the Richmond connection from the old zone days.

“We want to be part of those communities where possible and the opportunity to do so in Mildura was great for us,” he said.

SENTrack will air Breakfast with Garry and Tim in the mornings and Sportsday with Gerard Healy and Sam McClure in the afternoons, to bookend each day’s racing coverage.

From December 1, acclaimed racing broadcaster Andrew Bensley will join SENTrack Monday to Thursday from 8am, plus Saturday mornings.

Weekend coverage will include Off The Bench and Saturday Trackside.

Hutchison said the station would be looking to air local content and was hoping to do so by Christmas.

Mildura will be SENTrack’s 10th market and its first in regional Victoria, made possible by the availability of the frequency.

“It’s very rare you can find and start radio stations these days and we found a gem, 89.1FM, which is a tremendous frequency and signal,” Hutchison said.

Former Western Bulldogs and Essendon player Mark Alvey has joined the station as sales manager.

“Sports fans in Mildura are in for a treat with the new SENTrack which promises plenty of banter plus all of the action from sport around the country – including AFL. I can’t wait to kick off,” Alvey said.
