Photos have been plastered across social media as community members capture historic flooding in Mildura.

The Murray River is expected to reach its peak in coming days but water has already drowned at least one vineyard and multiple other properties.

SES incident controller Alistair Brayton has said the peak will likely come Thursday or Friday “although the thing to note is that it will sick around for a while”.

“It’s possible that we could still have areas effect until the new year,” he said.
