Two brothers behind a major winery operation in the Murray Darling region are accused of fabricating financial documents to defraud an Australian bank of more than $20m
Vincent and David Littore face accusations of falsifying a range of documents to a bank over a six-year period between 2010 and 2016.
The Littore brothers appeared in Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for a committal mention, with the discussion focused on the venue for their committal hearing.
David Littore’s lawyer Theo Magazis argued that Melbourne was the appropriate venue.
“We believe Melbourne is the correct location as (Vincent) has more charges to answer,” Mr Magazis said.
Vincent Littore’s lawyer agreed, stating that both brothers preferred the hearing to take place in Melbourne.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan approved the move
Vincent Littore is also facing allegations of perjury and perverting the course of justice.
The Littores will next appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 28 for a special mention hearing, with the five-day committal hearing scheduled to begin on May 26.
