Mildura’s flood Incident Control Centre closes its doors

With the flooding danger reduced, Mildura’s heightened SES presence has come to an end and the region’s Incident Control Centre has closed its doors.

Murray River expected to reach 38 metres above sea level

Mildura is the last Victorian town along the Murray River and it was therefore the last to be hit by the floods that wreaked havoc along the waterway in 2022.

The region’s SES team has shut the doors on the Incident Control Centre at Nicholas Point.

SES spokesman said the emergency service had ceased its operations in Mildura.

“The operation that started in October has concluded as of January 2,” he said.

There is still flood water impacting some parts of Mildura but the latest data from the Bureau of Meteorology indicates the danger and risks have fallen somewhat.

The flood level at the Mildura Weir was 37.97AHD and falling at 9am on January 3.

Given the Murray River remains at a Moderate flood level, there are still warnings in place for part of Nichols Point and along Ranfurly Way.
