Mildura Magistrates Court: Troy Strange fronts court on an array of theft and burglary charges

A light-fingered Mildura mechanic who was involved in an astonishing 11 burglaries and thefts over the past 12 months has fronted court.

A Mildura mechanic with a long criminal history has been involved in an astounding 11 burglaries over a 12-month period.

Troy Strange, 33, was sentenced to 16 months’ jail with a non-parole period of eight months after pleading guilty to charges including burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and firearms charges.

Strange was supported by his girlfriend and mother at Mildura Magistrates Court

He was commended by Magistrate Patrick Southey for his “full and frank admissions” upon his arrest, along with his guilty plea.

Mr Southey also said Strange was not a lost cause and urged him to address his drug habit, which was causing significant issues in his life.

Strange agreed, telling Mr Southey, “I don’t want this life anymore. I am pushing for rehab. I wanna be there for my kids. I wanna be there for my mum.”

With time served reckoned at 98 days, Strange will be eligible for parole in mid-October.
