Eight alleged bikies from South Australia have been charged with public fighting offences after two alleged “cowardly and unprovoked” assaults in Victoria’s northwest.

Police were called to a licensed venue on Langtree Ave in Mildura around 2.30am on May 29, following reports of a brawl outside the venue.

It’s alleged a woman in her 20s was assaulted during the incident, while a 29-year-old man was allegedly assaulted in a separate incident on the same night.

Mildura crime investigation unit acting senior sergeant Garry Mathews said the eight men, accused of being members of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, were charged with affray, violent disorder and other offences.

“This shocking behaviour will not be tolerated, and this investigation shows we will stop at nothing to put those responsible for putting others at risk before a court,” he said.

Acting Sen. Sgt. Mathews thanked community members for assisting police investigations into the “cowardly” alleged assaults.

“The community can rest assured that groups such as this who break the law and go against community expectation will be continually held to account by Victoria Police,” he said.

The men, aged between 26 and 49 from South Australia, were each charged with offences including unlawful assault, violent disorder and affray.

They were bailed and will next appear in the Mildura Magistrates’ Court on September 27.
