A Richmond woman has been pinged after allegedly evading police in a dangerous pursuit across the northern and western suburbs.

A female driver’s alleged need for speed has landed her in the court and facing a string of dangerous driving charges.

A 28-year-old Richmond woman allegedly led police on a long, winding chase after being caught speeding on Plenty Rd in South Morang around 12.20am on Thursday morning.

Police followed the woman through Mernda where they deployed stop sticks and their helicopter to help in the pursuit.

The chase escalated when the driver allegedly sped off to Point Cook before police successfully stopped the vehicle on Hacketts Rd in Werribee South.

The 28-year-old landed a laundry list of charges for the alleged chase.

They include reckless conduct endangering serious injury while on bail, driving a motor vehicle at a speed and manner dangerous to the public, failing to stop and driving while disqualified.

The driver was set to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.
