A psychological assessment has been ordered for a man who has admitted possessing tens of thousands of child abuse images.
Timothy Bryant, 35, pleaded guilty in the County Court on Friday to one charge of possession of child abuse material and was remanded on bail to appear on October 21 for a plea hearing.
Bryant was busted with “tens of thousands” of category one and two child abuse images.
Police found the alleged material after executing a warrant and searching his phone and computer.
He was supported in court by his mother.
Bryant initially appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in September last year when police submitted that the matter was serious enough to warrant more jail time than two years and hence, should be transferred to the County Court.
In the County Court on Friday, Judge Frances Hogan said a plea hearing needed to be adjourned as the court did not have reports on Bryant’s personal circumstances.
The judge said she understood the frustration of Bryant and his mother at further delays in finalising the matter, however, the court needed all the relevant materials before proceeding any further.
