Thousands of cheeseheads from across the country have flocked to Melbourne this weekend to get a taste of some of the world’s best cheeses.
Mould — A Cheese Festival will made its much anticipated return to Melbourne during the June 2-4 weekend, with more than 25 producers showcasing hundreds of varieties of Australian made dairy products.
The festival was held at the Timber Yard in Port Melbourne, with about 4,000 people coming through the gates.
Last year visitors ate more than six tonnes of cheese, with Victorian producer Milawa’s aged blue cheese awarded the People’s Choice.
Festival organiser Rachel Stewart said the festival was about uniting the nation’s cheese connoisseurs.
“We’re all about bringing together the best Australian producers to taste and talk about the incredible produce we make here,” Ms Stewart said.
“Now more than ever it is vital to support these producers so why not come and do that at Mould. With a glass of vino, some good tunes and great company this year is sure to be a blast”.

Chief Cheese Wrangler Olivia Sutton said the festival had something for everyone.
“We have some really interesting cheese makers here,” she said.
“One of the great things about a festival like this for the businesses is you get direct feedback from customers as well”.
After its Melbourne event the festival heads to Sydney and Perth.
