A teenager was required to have facial surgery after he was allegedly punched and knocked out by a man looking after a wheelchair user outside a CBD library.
Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to following the January 20 assault in the library forecourt on Swanston St.
It is believed the man was pushing a second man in a wheelchair when he approached the teen and four of his friends about 2.30pm.
The man chatted with the group and then suddenly punched a 15-year-old Hampton boy in the face, before leaving the scene with the man in the wheelchair.
The Hampton boy later required surgery due to the extent of his injuries.
The alleged attacker is described as being a caucasian man in his late 30s, and was wearing a blue shirt with a red logo.
Any witnesses, including the man in the wheelchair, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
