A Little Collins St shop was scammed out of an expensive bracelet worth $15,000, after a fake credit card was used to buy it on December 30.

Police allege a man entered the store about 4.30pm and picked out several items before paying for the bracelet with the fraudulent card and walking away.

A few hours later the store reported the incident to police when the truth of the credit card came to light.

The Melbourne police detectives arrested a Thomastown teen after he handed himself in to the Epping police station yesterday.

He is expected to be charged for producing fake documents and obtaining the goods through deception.

He will appear before a magistrate at the children’s court at a later date.
