A former high-flying fashion label boss has been granted bail for the third time in just over a year, over a slew of serious alleged offences.

Jim Sachinidis, the founder of Satch, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 18, over conduct that was described as an “extraordinary fall from grace”.

He was bailed to a residential rehabilitation centre in Shepparton where he will undergo a four month program with a strict regime.

In a previous hearing, the court heard drugs had “dominated his life” for some 18 months.

The 51-year-old was described as an “incredibly successful” and “high-flying” businessman, Sachinidis was said to have become an “utterly ashamed shell of a man”.

The court was told Sachinidis allegedly committed two burglaries and had a “really good imitation” firearm.

Magistrate Carolyn Burnside said the imitation firearm was a reflection of “the depths to which he sunk”.

“In terms of his morale and in terms of his lifestyle, it was somebody who was pretty well entrenched in the drug world,” she said.

“He’s been so desperate that he’s pinched things from family verandas and entered family homes.”

Sachinidis’ former high-end fashion label SATCH went bust in 2011.

He faced court in October last year over several charges, including trafficking GHB and speed and taking down an $87,000 JB Hi-Fi heist.

Magistrate Burnside said spending time in rehab would provide him with the opportunity to recover.

“(You’re) recovering from what was a destructive period in your life … caused by debilitating addiction.

“Your fall from grace was a remarkable one that ultimately involved you being found with weaponry.

“You are now specifically focused on getting back to the man you once were.”

Sachinidis will face court again later this year.
