Finks associates Jamshed Rashidi and Ahmad Rashidi appeal strip club brawl jail sentences

Finks bikie associate brothers have copped to a Melbourne strip club assault as CCTV of the brawl can now be made public.

Finks bikies brawl at Melbourne strip club

A “ferocious” and “gutless” attack at a Melbourne strip club has ended in two Finks bikie associates being served jail terms.

Jamshed Rashidi, 38, and Ahmad Rashidi, 24, were sentenced to 75 days and 30 days’ jail respectively at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last month, having each pleaded guilty to a charge of affray by using unlawful violence.

However, the brothers were granted immediate bail after both appealed their sentences.

The thugs were caught on CCTV carrying out the savage beating at King St’s Centrefold Lounge just after 6.30am on March 24 last year.

Three other alleged Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang bikie members are contesting charges pertaining to their involvement in the affray.

The court heard the group attacked two men, aged 37 and 40, who posed no threat to their attackers soon after the victims arrived at the club.

Magistrate Justin Foster said the pair could be seen on CCTV backing away with open palms raised after speaking to the bikie group.

“That is where the matters should have ended,” he said.

An alleged bikie then punched one of the victims in the head and pushed the second victim, before two other alleged bikies joined in the attack.

Jamshed Rashidi then delivered “a powerful and vicious elbow” to the second victim’s face, sending him onto the ground 2m back.

With the victim in the foetal position with his hands behind his head, Jamshed Rashidi then punched and kicked him, while Ahmad Rashidi also kicked him.

After the victim got up he was punched to the ground by an alleged bikie.

Security then stopped the assault and the group calmly left the club.

The court heard the victims were too scared to give statements to the court, while numerous people who were at the club gave statements of how terrified they were.

Mr Foster said the affray was “sudden, vicious and ferocious”.

“Your actions were both gutless and cowardly,” he said.

“The community is thoroughly sick and tired of waking up every morning to the news of alcohol-fuelled violence on our streets and in drinking establishments.”

The Rashidis’ lawyer pointed out his clients hadn’t instigated the affray and said they were intoxicated at the time.

It was heard Jamshed Rashidi was a father-of-six and references provided to the court described him as ‘a caring family man’, while references described Ahmad as a ‘loving and caring’ person.

The court heard a Corrections Victoria assessment report stated Jamshed Rashidi had shown little or no remorse over the incident.

Mr Foster said the pair had been assessed as suitable for a community corrections order, but would be unable to do community work as they lived in Sydney.

He said prison was the only appropriate option to denounce the “cowardly and deplorable conduct”.
