A 19-year-old from Hoppers Crossing has drowned despite his two mates desperately searching for his body after he fell into the Yarra River overnight.
The Hoppers Crossing teenager was with two males at the Docklands harbour on November 30, when he fell into the water about 1am.
They raised the alarm after he failed to surface, with officers from the Water Police and Marine Search and Rescue scouring the area.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the man’s body was sadly recovered in the harbour about 4.15am.
“Police are not treating his death as suspicious,” she said.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
The news comes seven days after a man downed and a woman was rescued when their row boat capsized in the Yarra River shortly after 1.30am on November 24.
