The bail bid for Bourke St killer James Gargasoulas’s little brother, who allegedly ran a GHB Uber racket, has been delayed after his lawyer took up another case mid-bail application.

Angelo Gargasoulas, 33, applied for bail in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 11 for the second time, after he was arrested and charged following a police raid on his Carlton home on August 22.

Mr Gargasoulas’ alleged operation was brought to police attention after Simon Simoudis, a co-accused, told police Mr Gargosoulos had dropped a box of 1,4-butanediol to a Southbank address in July last year.

Cops raided Mr Gargasoulas’ home six weeks later, where police allegedly seized 10kg of 1,4 butanediol hidden in bottles disguised as aloe vera.

Police also allegedly seized fraudulent documents and a notebook containing various fraudulent identity documents, the court heard.

Mr Gargasoulas was denied bail in December last year, after trying to be released to his friend’s address, where convicted sex offender John Buckley presided.

In his second bail application on Tuesday, Mr Gargasoulas asked to be released on bail to live with friend Mohammad Che-Azuha, who he met on the gay dating app Grindr.

The pair — who have known each other for eight years — said they planned to live at Mr Gargasoulas’ Carlton address if the application was approved.

The court heard police oppose the application, saying Mr Gargasoulas was a “flight risk” due to “recently located fraudulent identification documents” and his alleged access to the dark web to obtain them.

The bail application was adjourned to March 18.

Senior Constable Sean Cronin also noted Mr Gargasoulas was “unemployed and sold drugs to fund his lifestyle”.

“I don’t believe the bail address is a reasonable bail address due to him previously residing there and dealing drugs from the address,” he said.

Mr Che-Azuha, who currently lives with John Buckley, said he would move into the Carlton address with Mr Gargasoulas, to “support him”.

“He’s been through a lot since his brother and when his mother died,” he said.

“He’s a good bloke, it’s a waste if he is to stay in prison for that long.”

Mr Gargasoulas lawyer Thibaut Clamart appeared on Tuesday morning, fighting for the freedom of his client, however failed to appear after the application had been stood down until after 2pm.

The court heard Mr Clamart had “picked up another brief” in the interim.

Mr Gargasoulas’ bail application was adjourned to March 18.
